1 INDICATIONS AA-VERAP (verapamil hydrochloride tablets) is indicated for: • Chronic stable angina of effort. • Angina resulting from coronary artery spasm. • Obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, where surgery is not otherwise indicated. • Atrial fibrillation or flutter with rapid ventricular response not otherwise controllable with digitalis preparations. • Follow-up treatment to the use of injectable verapamil hydrochloride in paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. • Treatment of mild to moderate essential hypertension. Concomitant use of verapamil hydrochloride with a diuretic or an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor has been shown to be compatible and to have additive blood pressure lowering effects. 1.1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (<18 years of age): No data are available to Health Canada; therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use. 1.2 Geriatrics Geriatrics (≥65 years of age): Evidence from clinical studies and experience suggests that use in the geriatric population is associated with differences in safety or effectiveness.
