What the Health Canada label says it is for
1 Indications ZYBAN (bupropion hydrochloride) is indicated as smoking cessation treatment in conjunction with behavioural modification; nicotine replacement therapy may be used together with ZYBAN. Prior to a decision to prescribe a non-nicotine treatment including ZYBAN, thorough consideration should be given to the treatment option of nicotine replacement therapy alone. 1.1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (<18 years of age): No data are available to Health Canada; therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use (see Potential association with behavioural and emotional changes, including self-harm). 1.2 Geriatrics Geriatrics (≥65 years of age): No overall differences in safety or effectiveness were observed between these subjects and younger subjects, but because geriatric patients are more likely to have decreased renal function, greater sensitivity of some older individuals to bupropion cannot be ruled out (see Renal Impairment and 4 Dosage and Administration). https://pdf.hres.ca/dpd_pm/00080547.PDF PM date: 2025-05-16 Source product: ZYBAN; DIN 02238441; fetched 2026-09-10 Product monograph posted by Health Canada; excerpt for lookup only.
