What the Health Canada label says it is for
1. Indications Therapy with lipid-altering agents should be considered a component of multiple risk factor intervention in those individuals at increased risk for atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia. TEVA-FLUVASTATIN (fluvastatin sodium) should be used in addition to a diet restricted in saturated fat and cholesterol when the response to diet and other non- pharmacological measures alone has been inadequate. Hypercholesterolemia and Mixed Hyperlipidemia Adults TEVA-FLUVASTATIN is indicated as an adjunct to diet (at least equivalent to the Adult Treatment Panel III (ATP III TLC diet)) in the treatment of elevated total cholesterol (Total-C), LDL-C and triglycerides (TG) and Apo B levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed hyperlipidemia (Fredrickson Type IIa and IIb) whose response to dietary restriction of saturated fat and cholesterol and other non-pharmacological measures has not been adequate.
