What the Health Canada label says it is for
1. Indications • Add-on combination: ONGLYZA (saxagliptin tablets) is indicated in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control, in combination with: - metformin, or - sulfonylurea, or - metformin and a sulfonylurea, or - premixed or long/intermediate acting insulin (alone or with metformin) when the existing therapy, along with diet and exercise, does not provide adequate glycemic control. 1.1. Pediatrics Pediatrics (<18 years of age): Safety and effectiveness of ONGLYZA in pediatric patients have not been established. Therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use. 1.2. Geriatrics Geriatrics (≥65 years of age): Evidence from clinical studies and experience suggests that no dosage adjustment is required based on age.
