1 INDICATIONS pms-FLUOXETINE (fluoxetine) is indicated in adults for: • Depression: pms-FLUOXETINE is indicated for the symptomatic relief of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). • Bulimia Nervosa: Fluoxetine has been shown to significantly decrease binge-eating and purging activity when compared with placebo treatment. • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): pms-FLUOXETINE is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The obsessions or compulsions must be experienced as intrusive, markedly distressing, time consuming, or interfering significantly with the person’s social or occupational functioning. The efficacy of fluoxetine in hospitalized patients has not been adequately studied. Long-term use of fluoxetine: The effectiveness of fluoxetine in long-term use in bulimia nervosa (i.e., for more than 16 weeks) and in obsessive-compulsive disorder (i.e., for more than 13 weeks) has not been systematically evaluated in controlled trials.
