What the Health Canada label says it is for
1 INDICATIONS SANDOMIGRAN DS (pizotifen tablets) is indicated for: • the prophylactic management of migraine. In various clinical trials, about 1/3 to 2/3 of patients with migraine experienced some benefit from SANDOMIGRAN DS and in most trials it was more effective than placebo in reducing the frequency or severity of attacks. SANDOMIGRAN DS is not useful for the clinical treatment of acute migrainous attack or for the treatment of tension headaches. 1.1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (< 12 years of age): Based on the data submitted and reviewed by Health Canada, the safety and efficacy of SANDOMIGRAN DS in pediatric patients has not been established; therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use (see 2 CONTRAINDICATIONS). Adolescents (12-17 years of age): There is limited evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of SANDOMIGRAN DS in adolescents 12-17 years of age, therefore SANDOMIGRAN DS should be used with caution in this age group (see 4.2 Recommended Dose and Dosage Adjustment). 1.2 Geriatrics Geriatrics (>65 years of age): The safety and efficacy of SANDOMIGRAN DS in patients 65 years of age or older have not been established.
