What the Health Canada label says it is for
1 INDICATIONS TEVA-CLINDAMYCIN (clindamycin hydrochloride capsules) is indicated in the treatment of serious infections due to sensitive anaerobic bacteria, such as Bacteroides species, Peptostreptococcus, anaerobic streptococci, Clostridium species and microaerophilic streptococci. TEVA-CLINDAMYCIN is also indicated in serious infections due to sensitive gram-positive aerobic organisms (staphylococci, including penicillinase-producing staphylococci, streptococci and pneumococci) when the patient is intolerant of, or the organism is resistant to other appropriate antibiotics. TEVA-CLINDAMYCIN is indicated for the treatment of the Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia in patients with AIDS. Clindamycin in combination with primaquine may be used in patients who are intolerant to, or fail to respond to conventional therapy.
