INDICATIONS AND CLINICAL USE XATRAL (alfuzosin hydrochloride) is indicated for:  Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia XATRAL is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).  Acute Urinary Retention XATRAL is indicated as adjunctive therapy with urethral catheterization for Acute Urinary Retention related to BPH and management following catheter removal. Geriatrics (> 65 years of age): XATRAL has been found to be a safe and effective when administered at the therapeutic dose (10 mg once-daily) to patients over the age of 65 years (see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS, Cardiovascular). Women: XATRAL is not indicated nor recommended for use in women. Pediatrics ( 18 years): XATRAL is not indicated for use in children.
