INDICATIONS AND CLINICAL USE Adults Schizophrenia Taro-Lurasidone (lurasidone hydrochloride tablets) is indicated for the management of the manifestations of schizophrenia. The antipsychotic efficacy of lurasidone hydrochloride tablets was established in short-term (6-week) controlled trials [see CLINICAL TRIALS]. The efficacy of lurasidone hydrochloride tablets in long- term use, that is, for more than 6 weeks, has not been systematically evaluated in controlled trials of patients with manifestations of schizophrenia. Depressive Episodes Associated with Bipolar I Disorder Taro-Lurasidone is indicated as monotherapy or as adjunctive therapy with lithium or valproate for the acute management of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder. The efficacy of lurasidone hydrochloride tablets for long-term use, that is, for more than 6 weeks, has not been systematically evaluated in controlled studies. The physician who elects to use Taro- Lurasidone for extended periods should periodically re-evaluate the long term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient.
