What the Health Canada label says it is for
1 INDICATIONS Novamoxin (amoxicillin) may be indicated in the treatment of infections due to susceptible strains of the following micro-organisms: Gram-negative organisms: H. influenzae, P. mirabilis and N. gonorrhoeae. Gram-positive organisms: Streptococci (including Streptococcus faecalis and Streptococcus pneumoniae). Amoxicillin is not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, indole-positive Proteus species, Serratia marcescens, Klebsiella and Enterobacter species. In emergency cases, where the causative organism is not yet identified, therapy may be initiated with amoxicillin on the basis of clinical judgment while awaiting bacteriologic tests to determine its antimicrobial sensitivity. Novamoxin may be indicated as a prophylaxis against alpha-hemolytic (Viridan's group) Streptococci before dental, oral or upper respiratory tract surgery or instrumentation. It may be also indicated as a prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis in patients with any of the following conditions: congenital cardiac malformations, rheumatic and other acquired valvular lesions, prosthetic heart valves, previous history of bacterial endocarditis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, surgically constr… https://pdf.hres.ca/dpd_pm/00080491.PDF PM date: February 9, 1979 Source product: NOVAMOXIN; DIN 00406716; fetched 2026-09-10 Product monograph posted by Health Canada; excerpt for lookup only.
What the Health Canada label says it is for
1. Indications CLAVULIN (amoxicillin / clavulanate potassium) is indicated for the treatment of the following infections when caused by CLAVULIN-susceptible strains of the designated bacteria: • Sinusitis when caused by β-lactamase producing strains of H. influenzae or Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis. • Otitis Media when caused by β-lactamase producing strains of H. influenzae or Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis. • Lower Respiratory Tract Infections when caused by β-lactamase producing strains of H. influenzae, K. pneumoniae, S. aureus or Moraxella (Branhamella) catarrhalis. • Skin and Soft Tissue Infections when caused by β-lactamase producing strains of S. aureus. • Urinary Tract Infections when caused by β-lactamase producing strains of E. coli. While CLAVULIN is indicated only for the conditions listed above, infections caused by ampicillin (amoxicillin) susceptible organisms are also amenable to CLAVULIN treatment due to its amoxicillin content. Furthermore, mixed infections caused by organisms susceptible to ampicillin (amoxicillin) and β-lactamase producing organisms susceptible to CLAVULIN should not require the addition of another an… https://pdf.hres.ca/dpd_pm/00084428.PDF PM date: 2026-04-24 Source product: CLAVULIN 250 F ORAL SUS; DIN 01916874; fetched 2026-09-10 Product monograph posted by Health Canada; excerpt for lookup only.
What the Health Canada label says it is for
1 INDICATIONS The components of the AA-LANSOPRAZOLE-AMOXICILLIN-CLARITHROMYCIN [lansoprazole delayed-release capsules, in combination with clarithromycin tablets plus amoxicillin capsules as triple therapy], are indicated for: ● the treatment of patients with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection and active duodenal ulcer disease. Eradication of H. pylori has been shown to reduce the risk of duodenal ulcer recurrence (see 14.1 Clinical Trials by Indication and 4 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION). In patients with a recent history of duodenal ulcers who are H. pylori positive, eradication therapy may reduce the rate of recurrence of duodenal ulcers. The optimal timing for eradication therapy for such patients remains to be determined. In patients who fail a therapy combination containing clarithromycin, susceptibility testing should be done. If resistance to clarithromycin is demonstrated or susceptibility testing is not possible, an alternative therapy combination is recommended. Resistance to amoxicillin has not been demonstrated in clinical studies with lansoprazole delayed-release capsules and amoxicillin. Other review policies

For Novamoxin Chewable: no applicable EAP criteria are held and no ODB benefit is established. These policies do not establish coverage.

For rare, immediately life-, limb- or organ-threatening circumstances, the Compassionate Review Policy may consider an unfunded drug or indication, subject to its criteria and without bypassing the drug review process. Compassionate Review Policy

Compassionate Review Policy: source quote
Where there are rare clinical circumstances in immediately life, limb, or organ-threatening conditions, the Executive Officer will also consider requests for drugs or indications in situations where there has not been a decision by the Executive Officer to provide funding of the drug or indication as part of the Ontario Drug Benefit program (and the EAP), and the drug or indication requested would not circumvent the established review process for new drugs or indications as part of the drug submission process for listing within the Ontario Drug Benefit program. Requests must meet the criteria for the Compassionate Review Policy.

For cancer drugs, Case-by-Case Review considers rare, immediately life-threatening circumstances when no satisfactory funded treatment exists; its criteria and application process apply. Case-by-Case Review (cancer drugs)

Case-by-Case Review (cancer drugs): source quote
Note: Requests for cancer drugs are considered under the Case-by-Case Review Program (CBCRP) which is administered by Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) on behalf of the Ministry of Health. The CBCRP considers funding requests for drugs (both oral therapies and injectable drugs) for the treatment of cancer in patients who have a rare clinical circumstance that is immediately life-threatening (death is likely within a matter of months) and who require treatment with an unfunded drug, because there is no other satisfactory and funded treatment. Please refer to the Ontario Health website for information on the application process, FAQs, eligibility criteria and program policies.
