1 INDICATIONS Adults INVEGA SUSTENNA® (paliperidone palmitate prolonged-release injectable suspension) is indicated for: • the treatment of schizophrenia. In controlled clinical trials, Invega Sustenna was found to improve the symptoms of schizophrenia, including positive and negative symptoms. • maintenance treatment of schizoaffective disorder. The efficacy of Invega Sustenna in maintaining symptomatic control for up to 15 months was demonstrated in a double- blind, placebo controlled clinical trial of adult patients with schizoaffective disorder who were first stabilized on Invega Sustenna during 6 months of open-label treatment. 1.1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (< 18 years of age): Based on the data submitted and reviewed by Health Canada, the safety and efficacy of Invega Sustenna in pediatric patients has not been established; therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use and its use is not recommended.
